At Hawthorne, all residents who agreed to receive the COVID vaccine have now been fully immunized. The second dose milestone was reached on February 10th, and residents were rewarded with a cheeky treat to ‘Kiss COVID goodbye’.

Hershey's Kisses for Second Dose

“The recreation team was on hand to give out some post-immunization treats and decided to go with a Valentine’s theme,” says Recreation Therapist Jessica Craig. “We gave out Hershey’s Kisses to everyone that received their second dose, much to their delight.”

Finally Turning a Corner

“We thought it was an important milestone and one that should be acknowledged and celebrated as the residents at Hawthorne have had such a long struggle with the COVID-19 restrictions in place. The immunizations mean that we are finally turning a corner.”

“It was an exciting day,” Jessica adds, “one that everyone at the Cochrane site looked forward to for many months as it signaled a potential return to some kind of normalcy.”
